How to add, register, and manage competitors in a tournament.
Competitors can register themselves once a tournament is published, or the TO can add them manually at any time.
Once a tournament is published, any logged-in user can register by navigating to the tournament page and selecting Join from the Tournament Actions menu. Share the tournament URL with your community to let players register themselves.
From the Competitors tab inside your tournament, use Add Player to register someone directly. This is useful for walk-ins or players who are unable to register themselves.
At the current time, it is not possible to add a player without an account.
Placeholders add a lot of complexity and potential for confusion. For example:
Q: “I’m logged in, why can’t I see my pairing?”
A: “Because the TO added your name as a placeholder instead of adding your actual account.”
This may change in the future, but for the time being, Combat Command strongly encourages TOs to be a bit strict with their players: “Your registration is not complete until you have paid, submitted your army list, and signed up on Combat Command.”
To edit a competitor’s details after registration, open their context menu from the Competitors tab and select Edit. From there you can update their faction, alignment, and submitted lists.
Score adjustments are also managed from the edit form. See Score Adjustments below.
Depending on the tournament settings, competitors may be required to submit one or more army lists. List requirements are defined by the game system.
Competitors can submit and update their lists themselves from the tournament page. TOs can also manage lists on behalf of a competitor from the edit form.
Score adjustments let you apply bonuses or penalties to a competitor’s standing. Common uses include rewarding on-time list submission, penalizing slow play, or correcting a mis-recorded result.
Each adjustment has four fields:
Adjustments are applied automatically when standings are calculated. See Ranking for more on how ranking factors work.
To drop a competitor from future rounds without removing their history, simply leave them off the pairing checklist when generating pairings for the next round. Their previous results and standings remain intact, and they can be included again in any future round if they return.
See Creating Pairings for details on the pairing checklist.
To remove a competitor entirely, open their context menu and select Delete. This permanently removes them and all associated data from the tournament and cannot be undone. Deletion is not available once a tournament has started.
Use the pairing checklist to handle drops and no-shows. Reserve Delete for cases where the competitor should never have been registered at all.
